Thanks to the lovely folks at VertNet and some cool techybods at Canadensys we've finally launched IPT provider and it's full of lovely data! Over 1.75 million botanical and zoological specimens are now freely available to the scientific community and public as downloadable Darwin Core Archive files. That's 95% or our digital holdings in those two groups.

For those of you in the know we'll be decomissioning all out Digir resources except birds and mammals and will switch off the server completely as soon as the folks at ORNIS and MANIS make the jump.

IPT is GBIFs Integrated Publishing Toolkit and is a way to package data into a standard format.
