Schools and community groups serving Pre-K–12th grade students, register your field trip by completing this form at least 14 days in advance of your visit. (College and university groups, please use the group reservation form.)

Field trips are only available to groups of 15 or more students. After submitting this form, you will immediately receive an email receipt of your registration form. We will review availability, create a group reservation, and email you a confirmation within two days.

The Museum is open 364 days a year (every day but Christmas) from 9am–5pm. Last admission is at 4pm. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preferred visit date. Be sure to check your school calendar to avoid any conflicts with holidays or in-service days.

Exhibitions & 3D Movies

All general admission exhibitions are included with your visit, including fossils and dinosaurs in the Griffin Halls of the Evolving Planet, mummies in Inside Ancient Egypt, and cultures in our Native North American Hall and The Ancient Americas.

Immerse your students in one of our ticketed exhibitions or 3D movies. Admission to a 3D movie is $7 per student. Ticketed exhibitions are $7 per student for Illinois schools, and Chicago schools receive free admission to one ticketed exhibition. Chaperones within the recommended ratio are free. 

Out-of-state groups can add one or more ticketed exhibitions or 3D movies to their visit.

Activities

Explore the museum with your students on a docent-led guided tour. These are free for Illinois school groups and $5 per student for out-of-state groups.

Illinois school groups are eligible for guided tours for the 2019–2020 academic year from October 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020. Tours are unavailable during select blackout dates:

The Siragusa Center is available to Chicago public schools free of charge. Schools and organizations outside Chicago can reserve the space for $65. Siragusa reservations include time to eat in the lunchroom and access to coat check. Groups are also welcome to gather on the Museum’s northwest terrace (weather permitting) or in the Sea Mammals area on a first come, first served basis.
Groups who reserve space in the Siragusa Center are also eligible to receive access to a coat check, if visiting between October 1 and April 30.

If you choose the Field to Table option, an order form will be emailed to you. Meal vouchers can purchased for the Field Bistro or Explorer Cafe.
Meal vouchers are available for $25 per group. We offer vouchers for $5, $10, and $15 per student, and each are redeemable at the Field Bistro or Explorer Cafe. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. We cannot reserve seating for groups in either restaurant.

Thank you for ordering lunches from Field to Table. We’ll email you a menu with your field trip registration receipt. Please note that by purchasing bagged lunches, out-of-state groups are also responsible for a $75 staffing fee as we make arrangements for your group to have lunch in the Museum. Lunchroom assignments vary by group size and include room set-up, food delivery, and clean-up.

Out-of-state groups can reserve the Siragusa Center for $65. Reservations include time to eat in the lunchroom and access to the coat check. Groups are also welcome to gather on the Museum’s northwest terrace (weather permitting) or in the Sea Mammals area on a first come, first served basis.
Good news—by reserving space in the Siragusa Center, your group also has access to a coat check , (if you are visiting between October 1 and April 30).
