2016 Yearly Symposium:

The date of our 2016 symposium is: Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at noon.  Our speaker will be: Dr. Melinda Zeder (National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution): TBD.
This event will be held in Montgomery Ward Lecture Hall (on the ground floor near the West Entrance). If you are coming from outside of the Museum, please enter the Museum through the west entrance and ask the security guard at the door to direct you to Montgomery Ward Lecture Hall to gain access to the seminar room.  Everyone is welcome!

2016 Chicagoland Women in Science Mixer:

We are thrilled to host the second annual Chicagoland Women in Science Mixer on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 5:30-8:30pm
Our theme this year is "Diverse career options in STEM fields" and this mixer will featuring a panel discussion hosted by The Brain Scoop's Emily Graslie and include Rabiah Mayas (Museum of Science and Industry), Mary Bauer (Lagunitas Brewery), Suzy Smyth (Exponent Engineering and Scientific Consulting), and more.
The panel will be followed by networking opportunities, light snacks, and refreshments. This event in free and everyone is welcome.

2016 Monthly Meetings:

FMWIS monthly meetings are the first Monday of every month from 12pm - 1pm in Lecture Hall II (on the ground floor near the West Entrance). If you are coming from outside of the Museum, please enter the Museum through the west entrance and ask the security guard at the door to direct you to Lecture Hall II to gain access to the seminar room. Everyone is welcome!

November 7, 2016: Dr. Claire Kremen (Professor, Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, University of California, Berkeley and MacArthur Fellow): TBD. This Field Museum event is a collaboration with the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in honor of the 35th anniversary of the MacArthur Fellows Program, which recognizes exceptionally creative people who inspire us all. Learn more at: macfound.org/fellows35.

Chicagoland Women in Science Mixer:

Yearly Symposium:

Once a year we will hold a FMWIS sponsored symposium. This symposium will feature an invited speaker selected by FMWIS members and will be open to the public.

The date of our 2013 symposium is: Wednesday, September 25, 2013 (noon - 1pm) and our inaugural invited speaker was Dr. Hopi Hoekstra (Harvard University).

Monthly Meetings:

FMWIS monthly meetings are the first Monday of every month from noon - 1pm in the Zoology Classroom (third floor).
