Summer Late Night: Base Camp

Base Camp at The Field Museum

On August 1st, the entire Field Museum is open until 9pm! We've created Base Camp, a pop up bar with new theme each month that's free with admission. It's a place where adults can congregate as they explore The Museum. August's Base Camp theme is Hanging Gardens.

Drink and chat with scientists under The Field’s very own hanging gardens. August’s Base Camp will explore plants from 65 million years ago, early agricultural practices, and how our conservation work is changing the shape of Chicago. We'll pair those plants with drinks from The Empty Bottle's own Meg Silvas (2013 Chicago Bartender of the Year). Plus, our friends at the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance will bring their own plant specimens and talk about the amazing work they do with plant life right here in Chicago.

Base Camp is free with admission to The Field Museum.

Guests to Base Camp must be 21 or older.

The event space is accessible to wheelchair-users and visitors who need to avoid stairs. Please use the accessible entrance on east side of the Museum. For further accessibility information or to request additional accommodations, please contact us at least 2 weeks in advance by email at jjohnston@fieldmuseum.org or by calling Jaclyn Johnston at 312-665-7107.

Public Transportation: The Field Museum is located on Chicago's Museum Campus. The #146 bus serves the museum campus.
