Regenstein Halls of the Pacific

Two cases displaying tapa cloth wedding dresses from Fiji in the entrance gallery of the Regenstein Halls of the Pacific

The Regenstein Halls of the Pacific showcase The Field Museum’s world-renowned collection from the Pacific Islands, and in 2016 were updated with a new opening gallery with regularly changing co-curated material. The current display includes two stunning tapa cloth wedding dresses recently acquired from a dress-maker in Fiji, as well as objects from the Museum’s extensive Philippines collection, selected and interpreted by members of Chicago’s Filipino-American community. This collaborative storytelling and beautiful material culture come together to paint a compelling picture of the vibrant Pacific Islands.
