Open House Chicago

Founders' Room set up with tables for an event

For the first time, The Field Museum is taking part in Open House Chicago, a two-day festival where visitors get the opportunity to discover the hidden gems and architectural treasures of Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods—all for free.

From 9 am-5 pm on Saturday, October 14th, and from 9 am-1 pm on Sunday, October 15th, we'll open up our Founders' Room, a hall that was once the private office of Stanley Field, Marshall Field's nephew and Museum president for 56 years. Now used for private functions, the Founders' Room houses artifacts and specimens not normally on view to the public.

Entry to the Founders' Room does not include admission to The Field Museum—purchase a pass for access to other spaces and exhibitions. Learn more about the festival at openhousechicago.org.
