In spring 2010 ECCo facilitated a collaboration with the Chicago Cultural Alliance to mount kip fulbeck: part asian, 100% hapa. The exhibit displayed photographs of mixed ancestry people with captions explaining how they view their identity. In a first-of-its-kind experiment for The Museum, a social media component in the exhibit asked visitors to reflect on What are You? A panel prompted visitors to use their cell phones to take their own pictures and email the picture with a caption to the Chicago Cultural Alliance. The Alliance then selected photos and captions to display on a digital screen at the exhibit. The Alliance offered a series of dialogues in the gallery over the summer exploring how Chicago communities define their place in the region and the world.
