Becoming You

About this recurring event

Learn from activist scientists and explore your passions during this hybrid summer camp.

A group of teens look at a fossil in the collections area of the Field Museum.

Becoming You is an innovative summer camp for students in grades 9–12. Discover how scientists use their research to create a more just, equitable, and sustainable world. And make projects inspired by you!

In this weekday camp that runs for two weeks, you can reflect on your passions and interests to better understand how they can make a difference. Gain experience with video production and social media to share their findings. By hearing from scientists and exploring the Field’s latest exhibition—Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Dr. Jane Gooddall—become empowered to make a positive impact.

To take part in one of the sessions, you will need to come to the museum three days per week and participate online two days per week. The camp runs Monday through Friday from 9am to 12pm. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, come to the museum for in-person programs. Meet online Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Sign up for one of the two-week sessions of Becoming You:

  • Session 1: July 19-30
  • Session 2: August 9-20

Tickets for the program are $150. Members enjoy a 15% discount. Space is limited.

In order to promote equitable access to Field Museum programs, a number of needs-based scholarships are available. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
