    About this event

Join us as we continue our Virtual Professional Development Series!

The Field Museum’s bird collection started at the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893, and we haven’t stopped collecting since. The collection now comprises 530,000 specimens of birds, eggs, and nests. During this virtual program, we’ll discuss how the collection is used to better understand the world around us, as well as ways to connect children to nature through birding. We’ll also discuss the painful history surrounding the naming of birds, and learn about how bird names are changing for the future of birders.
