The Field Museum is excited to support teachers and classrooms through our professional development programs.&nbsp; Educators who participate in our programs deepen their understanding of museum content through Field Museum research and resources.&nbsp; Our professional development programs are available for teachers of pre-K through high school.

Happy Halloween! This one hour program will examine the evolution, diversity, and interconnectedness of blood feeding animals in nature. Participants will learn about the mouth parts of leeches, flies, and vampire bats! Come explore the anatomy of the bite! 

The cost of the virtual event is $10, and educators who participate in this virtual session will receive 1 CPDU.

Based on the Museum’s newest special exhibition, Bloodsuckers: Legends to Leeches.

Bloodsuckers: The Anatomy of a Bite

During this professional development program, we will reflect on the value of the field trip experience. How do educators and students feel in the museum? How can field trips create access and promote equity? What makes field trips challenging, and what are some strategies to address those challenges? Together we will explore the learning resources that are available at the museum, and design a focused field trip (pre, during, and post visit experience).

We will also model the process of signing up for a field trip, field trip class, and accessing the <a href="https://www.fieldmuseum.org/educators/n-w-harris-learning-collection" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harris Learning Collection</a> catalog.&nbsp;

Educators who participate will receive 2 CPDUs. This is a free program. Please register by filling out this Google form.&nbsp;

Educators will gain knowledge about field trips, field trip classes, and other available learning resources.

Focused Field Trips 

Explore how wings, fins, claws, and jaws and more work in nature! How does the structure and function and function of an animal allow it to survive?
