The one-week camps focus on exploring one of two special exhibitions at the Field Museum. In Jurassic Oceans, campers will investigate the prehistoric seas and the animals that swam while dinosaurs walked on land. In Wild Color, campers will dive into all the colors of the environment and how plants, animals, and even humans use color to their advantage.
The two-week camps focus on the history of one feature around us. First, we’ll explore its connections across the globe and interactions with local surroundings and populations. In the second week of the camp, campers will consider how some pieces of that story connect—how a little bit of randomness might have resulted in a different story altogether. Our environment is the result of infinite small stories all interacting with each other, and it tells those stories in the small details if you take the time to look.
The grade band for each camp refers to the grade a camper will be entering in the fall. Themes to choose from for grades 4–5 are Earth’s Story by the Drop, Jurassic Oceans, and Wild Color.
One- and two-week sessions run Monday–Friday, 9am–3pm. Aftercare is available until 5pm for an additional $125, and space is limited.
Scholarship applications have closed for 2022 summer camps.
