Learning Through Collections Professional Development Series

About this recurring event

Join us for our professional development workshops promoting inquiry and hands-on learning through the use of real artifacts and specimens in the classroom!

Workshops are available on select Saturdays through the academic year, 9:30am–noon. All educators—formal (K–12) or informal—are welcome and attendance is free with registration. Registration is now open for Fall 2019!

Fall 2019 Sessions

  • September 28—The Art of Inquiry: Effective Questioning for Teachers and Students
  • October 19—Drawing to Learn: Scientific Illustration in the Classroom
  • November 2—Planning for Phenomenal Science Instruction (NEW)


Every workshop is free with registration.

To register, email with the subject line "PD Registration."  Please provide the following information for yourself and any colleagues who will join you: name, email address, school or organization name, grade level, preferred workshop(s), and subject(s) taught.

We offer 2.5 Professional Development Clock Hours for your participation in each workshop.  

Free parking is available. Space is limited, first-come, first served. Attendees are also welcome to park in the Soldier Field North Garage ($25).
