About this event

Stop in to gain insight into what is involved in processing new acquisitions in our collections.

A Field Museum educator holds open a dimetrodon skull to show three visitors. Other skulls and a wet specimen in a jar sit on the table.

Visit with Emma Turner-Trujillo, Assistant Registrar, Kate Philippe, Registration Assistant, and Christina Thompson, Registration Assistant to learn about what is involved in behind-the-scenes museum work. Gain some insight into the method of processing new acquisitions in the anthropology collections, and the history of these objects. View masks and figurines from Latin America while discovering how long it takes to process objects in preparation for storage.

Scientists, researchers, and collections managers are behind the scenes every day, uncovering new information and taking care of our collection.

During Meet a Scientist, you can find them in the Grainger Science Hub. They'll discuss their work and share real items from the museum’s collection of nearly 40 million objects. From collections care to field work, and dinosaurs to ecology, there’s a world of science to explore.

Visit the Science Hub on select weekdays for an up-close look at what our researchers do every day.
