The Peña Blanca Spring meteorite fell on August 2, 1946 and eventually came to rest in the murky waters of a pond outside of Marathon, Texas. Approximately 70 kg of material was liberated from the waters of the pond including the two largest samples 47 kg and 13 kg. The meteorite is classified as an achondrite aubrite.
