Visiting the Museum
Given our efforts in renovating the Ronald and Christina Gidwitz Hall of Hall of Birds and the great reception it has received upon reopening, I wanted to write something more about taxidermy. A new book recently appeared in print entitled The Breathless Zoo by Rachel Poliquin. It is a history of taxidermy and in that sense a lot of research went into the book. However, Poliquin and I do not share the same feelings about taxidermy, which I found disappointing. Members, want to learn about bats? Then join us on Saturday, October 15 in the James Simspon Theatre from 1:00-5:00pm for Battle for Bats. As a member, you receive free basic admission, so this event is at no cost to you! You will join a group of experts for a half day symposium about bats and the crisis that they face in the disease known as White-nose Syndrome. Read more about Battle for Bats

Read about our Free Admission Day schedule, which applies to Illinois residents. Please note that admission fees for specially-ticketed exhibitions still apply. This includes Underground Adventure.
