Youth Council

Youth Council is a dynamic group of passionate, dedicated high school students from the Chicago area who work together to strengthen the Museum’s partnership with teens.

A group of teenagers gather in Stanley Field Hall to play a board game during the Speak Up for Science event.

Each year, Youth Council members create a project to connect teens to science at the Field and host a number of teen-only events. The program allows teens to enjoy the museum with new, exciting experiences designed just for them!

Youth Council meets twice a month on select Saturdays and school breaks, September through May. Participants receive CTA cards and access to other museums around Chicago, including the Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, and Art Institute of Chicago.

2019–2020 Youth Council

For the 2019–2020 school year, Youth Council will organize a public learning event allowing visitors to explore our science and collections from a youth perspective. Members will go behind the scenes in the fall, meeting with scientists and deciding what to include in the event, then design and host the program the following spring.
