Divvy Bike Program

There is a Divvy Bike Sharing station at on the southwest side of The Field Museum, as well as additional stations within walking distance. Divvy is Chicago's bike sharing system, intended to provide Chicagoans and visitors with an additional transportation option for getting around the city. Pass-holders and members can borrow a bike from any of hundreds of stations across the city, and return it to another station near their destination. For more information and pricing, visit the Divvy website.

From the North

The easiest way to get to the Museum from the north is by following the lakefront bike trail.

  1. Follow the bike trail through Jane Addams Memorial Park onto Lower Lake Shore Drive and across the river via the bridge (the bike trail becomes a divided sidewalk on the bridge, shared with pedestrians).
  2. Once you've crossed the river, keep left as the trail diverges from Lower Lake Shore Drive.
  3. Follow the trail past DuSable Harbor and Monroe Harbor on your left, and Buckingham Fountain on your right. The Museum will be straight ahead once you pass Monroe St.
  4. Just north of the Museum, the bike path will curve to the left and down a hill. Turn right at the foot of the hill and follow the pedestrian paths up to the Museum.

There are bike racks available for public use at the East and West entrances, as well as on the Northeast and Northwest terraces.
