Events include STEM career panel, Ayodele Drum & Dance Performance

Ayodele Drum & Dance will perform at the Field Museum on Feb. 21. 

Black History Month events at the Field Museum will include a STEM career panel featuring Black scientists, a dance workshop for youngsters, and a West African drum performance to celebrate African and African American culture and contributions to science.

Highlights of the month include:

Wednesday, Feb. 7 - Pathways to STEM Career Panel - 10:30 a.m.
Free Day for Illinois Residents

The Pathways to STEM Career Panel will feature a discussion with marine scientist Bryce Corbett, enthnoarchaeologist Larissa Smith, PhD, and an aerospace engineer turned professional musician Edward Vaughn V. Learn more.

Saturday, Feb. 10 - Mini Movers Dance Workshop 

The Field Museum is excited to welcome The Brainchild Collective to lead two Mini Movers Dance Workshops in the Crown Family PlayLab. The first session will take place from 2:00-2:20 pm and the second from 2:40-3:00 pm. Learn more.

Free Day for Illinois Residents

Ayodele, a Yoruba word meaning “Joy in the home,” is a diverse sister-circle of performing artists committed to studying and performing drum and dance as a wellness modality. More than 20 artists perform African drum and dance to educate and motivate young women and children through performances, community engagement, and a youth program.
