About this event

Join us for a roaring good time!

Dinopalooza is back and bigger than ever! Come celebrate SUE at this Museum-wide dinosaur extravaganza featuring Field scientists sharing their work, paleoart crafts, face painting, special tours, and so much more!

This year the Field Museum is partnering with iHeart Radio to bring Dino Derby to the Museum’s North Lawn! Dino Derby is a foot race for SUE wanna-bes to see who can win the title of SUEpreme speedster.

Children are invited to race in their favorite dino-mite outfits! Be it their favorite triceratops hat or a full costume. The children’s race begins at 11am.

At 1PM, adults will get the chance to duke it out dino style - that is, in full inflatable dinosaur suits. The fastest dino will receive a $1,000 cash prize!

Admission to the Dinopalooza festival is included in a general admission ticket to the museum. All Dino Derby participants must separately pre-register to race. See iHeart Radio’s webpage for full details.

But that’s not all.

Check out some of the activities planned for Dinopalooza 2025!

Virtual SUE and Dino, Di-NOT, Live!

Join us for special Live editions of our (usually) virtual game shows "Dino, Di-NOT" and “Virtual SUE.” Test your dino knowledge to see if you have what it takes to be dubbed a certified SUE savant.

Virtual SUE Live! will start at 10:30 AM in the SUE suite in Evolving Planet

Dino, Di-Not will start at 12:30 PM in the Elizabeth Morse Genius Hall of Dinosaurs in Evolving Planet

Jabberwocky Marionettes

The Field favorite Jabberwocky Marionettes are back with their larger than life dinosaur puppets! Be on the lookout as their gorgeous T. rex puppets roam the halls.

Paleo-art Demonstration + Craft

The Field is so excited to welcome back some of our favorite local paleo-artists to show off their extraordinary creations and work with kids to explore their own paleo-artistry!

Exhibitions Tour

Take a tour with Ben Miller from the Field’s very own Exhibitions Department to learn about the discovery and exhibition history of the particular specimens in the Hall of Dinosaurs. Tours will last about 30 minutes.

Meet Ben at the African Elephants in Stanley Field Hall to join. The tour will be offered at 11AM, 12PM, and 1PM.

Fossils at the Field

See and touch fossils older than the dinosaurs from our behind-the-scenes collections. Some of our world-class scientists will be there to talk all about their research, what they do at the Field, and of course, SUE!

Face Painting

Get your favorite dino painted on your face or arm!

Button Scavenger Hunt

Get your thinking caps on. This year’s button scavenger hunt will be a treat! Collect all 5 special Summer of SUE buttons.

And much more!
