About this event

This May, the Field Museum will give the Parker/Gentry Award to Chicago-based Urban Rivers.

The Parker/Gentry Award selection committee and the Keller Science Action Center are thrilled to announce Urban Rivers as the 2024 awardee.

Urban Rivers is first Chicago-based group to be selected to recieve the Parker/Gentry Award.

Urban Rivers is making a significant impact on conservation in the heart of the city, transforming the Chicago River into a beautiful natural setting where people and wildlife convene. The selection committee was impressed by their substantial contributions to restoring aquatic and terrestrial species through hands-on conservation action and research, done in collaboration with a diverse network of partners.

About the Parker/Gentry Award

The Parker/Gentry Award was established in 1996, named after late conservationists Theodore A. Parker III and Alwyn Gentry. The award recognizes individuals, teams, or organizations in conservation whose efforts have made a significant impact on preserving the world's natural heritage and whose approach can serve as a model to others. Each year, a committee of Field scientists reviews nominees and selects an awardee whose methods can inspire and guide others. Learn more at parkergentry.fieldmuseum.org.
