About this event

Join us as we continue our Virtual Professional Development Series!

Join us virtually on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 4-5pm for a professional learning opportunity designed to engage educators in deep content learning with the Museum’s collections, with particular emphasis on the Cyrus Tang Hall of China.

This program will help educators incorporate drama in the classroom – whether in-person or in a virtual setting – in order to engage students in the study of culture and religious traditions.

Participants will:

  • Understand: How to use theater and storytelling to teach young audiences about culture and religious traditions.
  • Do: Participate in drama and improvisation activities to explore the major themes and Buddhist values present in the stories of Guanyin and the Journey to the West.
  • Feel: Prepared to integrate drama and storytelling to teach cultural content.

Registration is open to formal and informal educators of all levels. Those who register will receive a Zoom link to join.

Accessibility: Our goal is to make all programming financially accessible without asking participants to individually request assistance. Please use the promo code 40OFFTEACHERS to receive 40% off the full ticket price if assistance makes it possible for you to attend this event.

Please note that this session will be recorded for future educational use by the Museum. Registration constitutes acknowledgement that your face/voice/name might be on this recording.

Illinois Educators will earn 1 hour of Professional Development for attending this training.

Registration will remain open until Monday, December 1, 2025.
