Keynote

On May 12, 2026, the Women's Board of the Field Museum will welcome Adji Bousso Dieng as its annual Women in Science Luncheon speaker.

Adji Bousso Dieng is a Senegalese scientist and technologist. She is currently an assistant professor of Computer Science at Princeton University, where she leads Vertaix, a group researching the intersection of AI and the natural sciences. She is affiliated with the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department, the Princeton Materials Institute, and the Princeton Quantum Initiative, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment, and the High Meadows Environmental Institute. Previously, she was a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind (2020-2025. She also founded the non-profit The Africa I Know to promote STEM education in Africa. 

Her pioneering transdisciplinary work has received widespread recognition. Most recently, she was awarded the 2025 Prix Galien Africa Special Prize and was named one of 10 African Scholars to Watch in 2025 by The Africa Report. She was awarded the Schmidt Sciences AI2050 Early Career Fellowship as part of the inaugural cohort. Columbia University recognized her in 2023 as an Outstanding Recent Alumna. In 2022, the American Statistical Association named her the Annie T. Randall Innovator. Dieng received her Ph.D. from Columbia University, where her thesis earned her a Google Ph.D. Fellowship in Machine Learning and the Leonard J. Savage Award from the International Society for Bayesian Analysis. Dieng and her work have been covered in New Scientist, Le Monde, Forbes, Nature, Thomson Reuters Foundation, Princeton Alumni Weekly, Business Insider, l’Actuariel, Ingenium, and other ventures.
