After four years of planning, the Field Museum will close its Africa Hall on October 6, 2025. Since 1993, the Field Museum’s Africa Hall has told stories of richly diverse cultures and showcased some of the Museum’s most engaging collections. The new hall is planned to open in spring of 2028.
Building on the Field’s continued practice of community consultation, also seen in its renovation of the Native North America Hall, which opened in 2022, the Museum has engaged community members in the planning process. The Museum looks forward to sharing more as the project proceeds.
