Stacy Drake

IMLS Bioarchaeologist

Stacy's work for the IMLS 2016 National Leadership Grant combines her experiences in archaeology, human osteology, and repatriation and NAGPRA law. At the Field Museum, she works in collaboration with descendant, indigenous communities to complete updated housing and osteological inventories for North American human remains.

Stacy is a bioarchaeologist who was hired as part of an IMLS-funded project in 2017. While her graduate research focused on burial patterns of the ancient Maya of Belize, she specializes overall in human osteology, bioarchaeology, and NAGPRA. Stacy earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin, and formerly served as Osteologist and NAGPRA Coordinator for the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory. Though born and raised in the Midwest, Stacy's 10 years in Texas left an impact on her, and she is always looking for recommendations for good Bluegrass music and tacos and queso in the Chicago area.
