Christina Thompson is a collections and registration assistant in Anthropology at the Field Museum. Her role focuses on the ancient Africa and Egypt collections and registration work for the renovation of the Africa and Ancient Egypt exhibitions at the museum.

Christina’s work at the Field Museums has included a broad range of collections and registration projects. Her work has included: writing physical descriptions, recording measurements, photographing, labeling, creating custom housing, inventorying collections, and performing base level conservation vacuuming textiles. Because Christina spends the majority of her time working behind the scenes, she loves participating in outreach programming, sharing objects and their stories, as well as the work she does at the museum, with visitors through events such as Members’ Nights, Meet a Scientist, Day Camps, and special after hours events.

Christina is a graduate of Wartburg College, where she completed an individualized major in Archaeological Studies and minors in French, Intercultural Studies, and Leadership. She graduated from New York University with a Master of Arts in Humanities and Social Thought and an Advanced Certificate in Museum Studies. For her museum studies certificate she wrote "Online Exhibitions: Answering the Need for Interpretation of Online Collections," and applied this knowledge to developing her master's thesis "REPOhistory's Lower Manhattan Sign Project: A Digital Exhibition."  Before joining the Field Museum, Christina worked as a museum technician in collections at a state historical society and a third-person costumed historical interpreter at a living history museum.

Curiosity and a love of learning set Christina on a career trajectory into the museum field. She is passionate about making museum collections accessible and believes that starts with good data.
