<p>Come meet Field Museum Collections staff Chris Philipp and Julia Kennedy as they discuss rarely-displayed masks from the A.B. Lewis collection, new contemporary items, and various media from the Field's Papua New Guinea collection. At nearly 35,000 items, the Field Museum cares for the largest collection of material from the country of Papua New Guinea currently in the United States.</p>
<p>Presenters include Chris Philipp, Collections Manager, and Julia Kennedy, Collections Assistant.</p>
<p>This session is the second in a series that celebrates <em>Wan Bel: a PNG Collective Global Exhibition</em>, commemorating the country of Papua New Guinea's 50th Anniversary of Independence.</p>

Explore how to honor diverse beliefs and traditions in your classroom.

<p>Join us at the Field Museum on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10am-2pm for a professional learning opportunity designed to engage educators in deep content learning with the Museum&rsquo;s collections, with particular emphasis on Ruatepupuke II, the Māori Meeting House.</p>
<p>This program will help educators explore how to approach teaching about diverse beliefs and traditions with care. As a case study, we will look at how to incorporate artifact inquiry when an artifact, like the Māori Meeting House, is not an object but an ancestor.</p>
<p>Participants will</p>
<ul>
<li>Understand: How to honor diverse beliefs by incorporating non-Western stories and traditions into instruction.</li>
<li>Do: Role-play responding to student and parent questions about cultures and religious traditions that might be different from their own.</li>
<li>Feel: Prepared to teach about diverse beliefs with care.Registration is open to formal and informal educators of all levels.</li>
</ul>
<p>Illinois Educators will earn 4 hours of Professional Development for attending this workshop.<br />Registration will remain open until Friday, December 5, 2025, or until full.</p>

<p dir="auto">Come join Thomas Marchese as he reveals a hidden world at an unimaginable scale through the use of a Scanning Electron Microscope, a powerful tool for scientists!</p>
<p dir="auto">Explore how Electron Microscopes can help scientists understand the micro-structure of materials which makes them useful in our everyday lives. Examine bugs, different types of hair, chocolate, and battery components in the micro-scale! Learn how pencils and sponges work, and also see the truth behind why you should always wash your hands!</p>
<p dir="auto">Presenters include Thomas Marchese, Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Chicago and Visiting Student at Argonne National Laboratory.</p>

<p>Children under the age of 6 will not be admitted into a Dozin' with the Dinos event. Adults may not attend Dozin' with the Dinos without a child between the ages of 6-12.</p>

Refunds may be requested for tickets purchased by mistake until 2 weeks prior to the event. No refunds will be given within 2 weeks of the event.</p>
