Mushuk Nina 2026

Mushuk Nina, meaning &ldquo;New Fire&rdquo; in the Kichwa language, commemorates an ancestral celebration symbolizing renewal and new beginnings.
The ceremony marks the spring equinox in the Andean region of South America and includes rituals with offerings, live music, dance, and community gatherings in honor of Pachamama (Mother Earth).&nbsp;
This annual celebration of the Andean New Year is presented in collaboration with the Kichwa Runa Community (Ecuador).
This event will take place in the Marae Gallery, located on the Upper Level of the Field Museum.

The Kichwa Runa Community of Indigenous Peoples is a not-for-profit organization, established and consolidated in Chicago, with the aim to strengthening and revitalizing the sociocultural expressions of our peoples and nationalities, their identity development, promoting new intercultural relationships, inside and outside of the United States, and thus foster their recognition through educational programs, exhibitions, cultural events, interrelationships, and social assistance with other related groups and organizations.
