In this interactive session, educators will meet&nbsp;Kaylin Melia George, author of the acclaimed picture book Aloha Everything. Together, we will explore how to use this vibrant story as a springboard for interdisciplinary learning, connecting literacy and hula to Hawaiian ecology and history.
We will also dive into the Field Museum&rsquo;s AANHPI resources, demonstrating practical ways to integrate these materials into your classroom to meet the requirements of the TEAACH Act. This is a unique opportunity to ask questions and discover engaging, culturally responsive strategies to enhance your curriculum.

The Field Museum is dedicated to broadening opportunity and equity in the sciences. Field Museum scientists impact their disciplines not only by conducting groundbreaking research but also by providing meaningful opportunities to women pursuing scientific careers. The Women&rsquo;s Board of the Field Museum, founded in 1966, raises funds for Women in Science programs at its annual luncheon celebrating female STEM leadership.

<h2>Keynote</h2>

On May 21, 2025, the Women's Board of the Field Museum will welcome Sera Young, PhD as its annual Women in Science Luncheon speaker.

Dr. Young is a Professor of Anthropology and Global Health at Northwestern University, and she has dedicated her career to understanding how women work to preserve their health and that of their families. Her research focuses on maternal and child undernutrition in the first 1,000 days of life, particularly in low-resource settings.

Notably, Dr. Young led a large team in the development of the first globally equivalent way of measuring water access &ndash; the WISE (Water InSecurity Experiences) Scales. These scales have been used by 100+ organizations in 50+ countries to tackle some of the world&rsquo;s most pressing health challenges.

She has authored more than 170 peer-reviewed publications, and her work has been featured in The New York Times, BBC, and National Geographic. Recent accolades include the Margaret Mead Award for her book Craving Earth, an Andrew Carnegie Fellowship, and the Norman Kretchmer Memorial Award in Nutrition and Development.

Since the inception of the Women in Science initiative in 2000, the annual luncheon has supported more than 500 young women through internships, fellowships, post-doc positions, salary support for female scientific staff, and a robust series of lectures and networking events. In addition, the luncheon makes possible annual science outreach programming for young women from three Chicago Public Schools &ndash; Orr Academy, Solorio Academy, and ITW David Speer Academy &ndash; whom we welcome to the Field Museum to join the luncheon, meet the keynote speaker, and network with female STEM leaders.

Join us for a professional development workshop inspired by the Restoring Earth in Abbott Hall. This session will explore how rainforest ecosystems can be used to support inquiry-based science learning in grades 3&ndash;5. The workshop will highlight classroom strategies that support Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), with a focus on ecosystem relationships, environmental change, and human impacts on Earth&rsquo;s systems. Educators will explore approaches for modeling food webs, facilitating evidence-based discussions, and helping students analyze real-world environmental challenges.

Meet Postdoctoral Researcher Rowan French and investigate the biology and importance of chemical communication in shaping the lives and diversity of insects. Meet real-life reptiles at our Itty Bitty Investigators: Reptiles Last Call event!

Join us for a wild after-hours adventure at the Field Museum, where the scaly, surprising world of reptiles takes center stage. In this exclusive 21+ evening, we&rsquo;ll shed light on the evolution, adaptations, and untold stories behind these ancient survivors.
Get up close to live reptiles and meet the experts who study them. Interact with Field scientists, sink your teeth into hands-on activities, and craft a take-home souvenir&mdash;your own reptile-themed wine glass charm. Plus, enjoy rare after-hours access to <a href="https://www.fieldmuseum.org/exhibition/reptiles-alive">Reptiles Alive!</a> before the exhibition disappears.
Whether you&rsquo;re a lifelong reptile enthusiast, a curious creature seeker, or simply looking for a fun night out, Last Call: Reptiles Alive! delivers a night packed with discovery, interaction, and scaly surprises.
Tickets will include access to select exhibitions and special programming, snacks, and an open bar of beer, wine, and our specialty cocktail.

The Field Museum welcomes <a href="https://www.adlerplanetarium.org/explore/about-us/who-we-are/">Elizabeth Babcock, PhD</a>, who joined Museum Campus neighbor Adler Planetarium as President and CEO in 2025. &nbsp;Before joining the Adler, she served as the Founding Director of the Smithsonian American Women&rsquo;s History Museum in Washington, D.C., where she laid the groundwork for a new national museum focused on women&rsquo;s history, advanced a multimillion-dollar campaign, and expanded national support for the museum.
This lecture will take place in the Founders' Room, and is part of our <a href="https://www.fieldmuseum.org/activity/womens-history-month">Women's History Month</a> programming&ndash; commemorating and encouraging the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role of women in history.&nbsp;

Join the Healthy Living With A Vision Foundation as we explore the intersection of human longevity, cultural practice, and nutrition science. Visitors will be introduced to the concept of the world's "Blue Zones" and the dietary and lifestyle commonalities that promote long, healthy, and meaningful lives in these areas. We will also discuss the Foundation's 28-Day Plant-Based Kick Start, and ways to implement the FEARLESS Wellness model into our own lives: Food, Exercise, Avoidance of toxins, Restorative sleep, Lessening stress, Engaging the mind, Social energy, and Spiritual connectivity.
Presenters from Healthy Living With a Vision Foundation include Dr. Ansel Johnson (Founder and CEO); Shanelle Brandon (Vice President, Board of Directors); Dr. James Thompson, MD (Medical Director); Dr. Angela Wheeler, MD (Speaker Bureau Chair).

Free Wednesdays are the perfect opportunity for you to explore our basic admission exhibitions with your family or a group of science-loving friends. Adventure through the wilderness on a desert safari, explore ancient civilizations, and come face-to-face with prehistoric creatures&mdash; all in one place. The Field Museum has so much to explore, you&rsquo;ll need more than just a day to see it all. But don&rsquo;t worry&mdash;Wednesdays are free for Illinois Residents.
Tickets for Free Days are only available to Illinois residents. For your convenience, free day tickets are available for advanced reservation online. Please present your proof of Illinois residency alongside your mobile tickets for express admission into the Museum. Tickets will also be available onsite subject to availability. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Advanced reservations for IL Free Day tickets are at capacity for Wednesday, 3/26. A limited number of tickets may be available onsite day-of, but we suggest you plan to visit another time.
<h2>Proof of Residency</h2>
Tickets for Free Wednesdays are only available to Illinois residents. No special coupon, ticket, or pass is required to enter the Museum during Free Admission Days. Just present a current Illinois driver's license, state ID, or Chicago CityKey card at the ticket desk to establish proof of residency. If you do not have an Illinois identification card, you may establish residency by showing a valid photo ID along with one of the following:

Families who qualify for state food assistance can receive $3-per-person Basic admission for up to six people. Just show an EBT (Link) or WIC card when you purchase tickets at the museum. You cannot take advantage of this special offer when buying tickets online.
