    Meet Sara Ruane

Sara learned to love nature during walks with her grandparents and she created a miniature "museum" for her family at age 6. As a herpetologist, Sara works to convey the value of understanding reptiles and amphibians. But being a scientist is just a part of who she is—with interests including fashion and poodles, Sara shows us that you don't need to compromise who you are to be a stellar scientist!

    Meet Lesley de Souza

Ever since the first time she went fishing with her dad, Lesley has looked at lakes and rivers with overpowering curiosity and wonder. As a conservation biologist, Lesley’s mission is to protect Amazonian freshwater diversity through rapid inventories that protect wilderness, biodiversity, and the livelihoods of local communities. When she’s not exploring the Amazon, Lesley is hard at work encouraging future scientists.
