This week's session features Greg Skomal from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries as he presents JAWS Revisited: What have we learned about the great white shark?.
At the age of 50, JAWS is still considered one of the most influential thrillers of all time. In this insightful lecture, Greg Skomal will explore how the film shaped our perception of the great white shark as a fearsome villain, and how years of research have worked to correct that narrative. Using high-tech tagging, Dr. Skomal has been studying the behavior and ecology of the white shark in the Atlantic for over 40 years. In this presentation, he will share the results of this research and set the record straight about this iconic species.

Ultimate SUE Sleepover 

The Field Museum welcomes <a href="https://www.adlerplanetarium.org/explore/about-us/who-we-are/">Elizabeth Babcock, PhD</a>, who joined Museum Campus neighbor Adler Planetarium as President and CEO in 2025. &nbsp;Before joining the Adler, she served as the Founding Director of the Smithsonian American Women&rsquo;s History Museum in Washington, D.C., where she laid the groundwork for a new national museum focused on women&rsquo;s history, advanced a multimillion-dollar campaign, and expanded national support for the museum.
This lecture will take place in the Founders' Room, and is part of our <a href="https://www.fieldmuseum.org/activity/womens-history-month">Women's History Month</a> programming&ndash; commemorating and encouraging the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role of women in history.&nbsp;

Moderated by Aimee Davis, Senior Director of the Sue Ling Gin Center for Education and Public Programs
Bob Weis is a dreamer who believes that if you can imagine it, you can do it. He was an Imagineer over a forty-year span, from 1980 to 2023. In those years, Bob worked on every Disney park and resort around the world. He was president of Walt Disney Imagineering from 2016 to 2022, and a Disney Global Imagineering Ambassador after that.
His passion for storytelling and creative collaboration, new technologies, and for the vibrancy of the guest experience has driven him through projects from Tokyo Disneyland (and later its accompanying park, Tokyo DisneySea) and Disney Hollywood Studios to the reinvention of Disney California Adventure and on to Shanghai Disneyland.
Dream Chasing is his recounting of four decades of creating and seeing to completion challenging projects, leading teams from the top secret, high-tech corridors of Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) to the highest levels of The Walt Disney Company.
Hear as Weis shares how his passion for chasing big innovative dreams, grounded in design, technology, and politics, brought an array of Disney experiences to reality, and how dreams can lay the groundwork for museums hoping to create immersive experiences for their audiences while centering storytelling in their design.&nbsp;
