<p>Imagine what it would feel like to stand next to a <em>T. rex.</em> Ponder what flowers smelled like 30 million years ago. See what inspiration you'll find and start turning your ideas into poetry with Eric Elshtain, the Field Museum's first poet in residence.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Join us for a series of weekly events that change how you see the museum—whether you’ve visited once or dozens of times. Encounter objects from our collection. Tour an exhibition. Find our poet in residence at a typewriter station to craft your own poem!</p>
<p>Eric hosts pop-ups most Thursdays from 10am–12pm, in locations across the museum. No prior knowledge of poetry needed. &nbsp;</p>

<p>You&rsquo;ve Asked, We&rsquo;ve Listened! In this workshop, educators will explore how geometry and mathematical patterns are embedded in the biomechanics of living systems. Using the <em>Biomechanics: The Machine Inside</em> exhibition as a case study, participants will examine lines of symmetry, shape, proportion, and structure as tools for understanding movement, adaptation, and survival in the natural world.</p>
<p>Designed with middle school learners in mind, this experience highlights how geometric concepts, especially lines of symmetry, can be observed, discussed, and extended across grade levels from PreK through 12th grade. Educators will engage in observation-based strategies that mirror student experiences and consider how museum spaces can support math instruction through real-world, data-rich phenomena.</p>

<p>Families with 2-6 year olds are invited to a free, drop-in Black History Month story time session led by Angelica London, Community Engagement Manger for the Africa Hall. Join us for a fun-filled PlayDate with stories honoring Black identities, communities, history and culture.</p>

<p>Come meet Field Museum Collections staff Chris Philipp and Julia Kennedy as they discuss rarely-displayed masks from the A.B. Lewis collection, new contemporary items, and various media from the Field's Papua New Guinea collection. At nearly 35,000 items, the Field Museum cares for the largest collection of material from the country of Papua New Guinea currently in the United States.</p>
<p>This session is the third in a series that celebrates <em>Wan Bel: a PNG Collective Global Exhibition</em>, commemorating the country of Papua New Guinea's 50th Anniversary of Independence.</p>

<p>Join the Field Museum, in collaboration with the Japanese American Service Committee, at Shared Stories, Shared Future: An Educator Symposium on AANHPI Histories and Belonging. This event celebrates the culmination of a three-year journey exploring Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) histories and stories through education, community partnerships, and museum learning. The event will feature a screening of <em>Making Waves: The Rise of Asian America</em>, a film by JJML Productions, followed by a panel discussion with educators and young advocates who helped champion the TEAACH Act in Illinois. Breakout sessions, cultural activation stations, and cultural performances to follow. Field Museum Connections: AANHPI stories and the TEAACH Act programming is made possible with the generous support of the Cyrus Tang Foundation.</p>

<p>The city of Rugao, located in the northeastern part of Jiangsu Province, China, is the birthplace of Rugao Rod Puppet Theatre, listed among the Province&rsquo;s first items of intangible cultural heritage.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Designated as the official institution for preserving and transmitting this traditional art form, the Rugao Puppet Art Troupe have performed the world over and have earned numerous awards at international festivals, including the 21st International Puppet Festival and the 4th European Puppet Arts Festival.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Come experience their latest production, comprised of 11 short puppet skits, including adaptations of classic Chinese mythology such as The Monkey King, original animal fables like The Little Ostrich, and impressive traditional &ldquo;face-changing&rdquo; acts. Combining heritage techniques with creative storytelling, these performances offer a vivid, innovative, and uniquely captivating experience of Chinese puppetry.</p>

If you do not have an Illinois identification card, you may establish residency by showing a valid photo ID along with one of the following:</p>

<p>Join the <em>Healthy Living With A Vision Foundation</em> as we explore the intersection of human longevity, cultural practice, and nutrition science. Visitors will be introduced to the concept of the world's "Blue Zones" and the dietary and lifestyle commonalities that promote long, healthy, and meaningful lives in these areas. We will also discuss the Foundation's <em>28-Day Plant-Based Kick Start</em>, and ways to implement the FEARLESS Wellness model into our own lives: Food, Exercise, Avoidance of toxins, Restorative sleep, Lessening stress, Engaging the mind, Social energy, and Spiritual connectivity.</p>
<p>Presenters from <em>Healthy Living With a Vision Foundation</em> include Dr. Ansel Johnson (Founder and CEO); Shanelle Brandon (Vice President, Board of Directors); Dr. James Thompson, MD (Medical Director); Dr. Angela Wheeler, MD (Speaker Bureau Chair).</p>
