The Papua New Guinea collections at the Field Museum are the largest part of the Museum’s Pacific Collections, with 35,000 cultural items.
As part of the celebration of Papua New Guinea’s 50th Anniversary of Independence, the Field Museum will offer a series of events spotlighting rarely displayed material from the rich collection. The Field joins institutions worldwide to recognize Wan Bel: a PNG Collective Global Exhibition, a year-long celebration that highlights PNG art and objects to enhance awareness and encourage intercultural dialogue.
