Diwali Heritage Month

Shining a Light On Diwali at the Field Museum

Celebrate the Festival of Lights at the Field Museum with an evening of culture, learning, and joy. Explore activities and performances designed for families and children of all ages:

  • Discover stories and artifacts that illuminate Diwali’s history and traditions.
  • Decorate your own diya (clay lamp) and bring home a symbol of light and hope.
  • Enjoy a beautiful mehndi design created with traditional henna.
  • See behind the scenes special collection items.

Experience a dazzling dance showcase—from garba to classical—performed by the Rhythm Roots Dance Group and other local schools.

Join us Tuesday, November 4, from 5:00–7:30pm for a night that celebrates culture, community, creativity, and the vibrant traditions of Diwali. Performances will take place from 6:00–7:30pm in Stanley Field Hall. This celebration is part of our After 5 at the Field event series.

This event is presented in collaboration with local cultural entrepreneurs Parul Bhandari, Author and Experience Consultant, and Priya Raman, Owner, Rhythm Roots Dance.
