Youth and Family-Centered Conservation
The Keller Science Action Center’s Youth & Family–Centered Conservation programs strive to build a Chicago Region where youth are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and passion to become the region’s environmental stewards and sustainability leaders of tomorrow. Our team leads programs, events, and internships that support a diverse next generation of conservation leaders by emphasizing hands-on, place-based experiences.
Youth and families learn alongside Field Museum ecologists, social scientists, and educators, meet peers from across the city, and explore local nature—turning science into action in their own neighborhoods.
Mighty Acorns
Mighty Acorns is an elementary environmental education program for grades 3–5 that connects students and teachers across the Midwest to their local ecosystems through stewardship, exploration, and hands-on field studies. These action-based experiences build scientific skills and a lasting connection to nature. The Field Museum serves as the regional program manager, coordinating implementation with over 30 partners across four states.
