Our wildlife needs you to help them beat the extinction clock, so gather your pit crew and join us for an evening in the high-speed world of conservation. Choose your wild racer from the Conservation Cup Series lineup and pull into pit stops around the museum to prepare them for the race - then cheer them on when they take to the Stanley Field Speedway! Remember - you don&rsquo;t need your racer to be the fastest - you just need to refuse to let them lose.
Hang out by the track with real scientists and conservationists, or purchase Tour tickets for a special look behind the scenes in Collections. Learn about wildlife conservation around the world, including here in Chicago, and gather the tools you need to make a difference at home! You&rsquo;ll leave the Stanley Field Speedway prepared to be the Conservation Pit Crew for wildlife in your own community.

Summer of SUE

Since their unveiling in 2000, SUE the T. rex has been studied by scientists around the world, yet mysteries remain about the Field&rsquo;s most famous fossil. What caused holes to form on SUE&rsquo;s lower jaw and what can this tell us about how they lived and died? Join paleontologist Jingmai O&rsquo;Connor, Curator of Fossil Reptiles, as she shares some of the mysteries about SUE the T. rex scientists are continuing to solve, and hear how she and her team were able to prove one of the most popular theories about the cause of holes in their lower jaw&ndash;that they suffered an infection from a protozoan parasite&ndash;couldn&rsquo;t be true.

Dicynodonts are a weird and wonderful group of mammalian ancestors famous for being the first group to evolve tusks. This session takes a deep dive into dicynodont tusk fossils...and all the amazing biological information preserved inside. Join us as we look at 240 million-year-old dicynodont tusks and "thin-sections" under a microscope to uncover how these creatures lived and grew.
Presenters include Megan Whitney, Field Museum Researcher and Assistant Professor, Loyola University Chicago; Kara Mia Ehler, Lab Technician, Loyola University Chicago.

As part of Pollinator Week, the Field Museum's Keller Science Action Center is partnering with Arc'teryx Chicago to host a dynamic community event on June 22 that blends education, engagement, and action for pollinator conservation. Guests will gather in our own <a href="https://www.fieldmuseum.org/exhibition/rice-native-gardens">Rice Native Gardens</a> for a short, accessible lecture exploring the essential role of pollinators, the challenges they face, and why their survival matters to all of us. The program will then transition into hands-on activities where participants can explore the Gardens to learn how to support pollinators&mdash;through building habitat, touring the Rice Native Garden for inspiration, and discovering the benefits of planting native species at home. Attendees will also be introduced to iNaturalist, a powerful community science tool for documenting pollinators and helping us understand what habitat pollinators need in an urban landscape. Small group sessions will guide participants on how to use the app and contribute meaningful data that supports the Action Center's conservation efforts. This event is a unique opportunity to inspire awareness and stewardship in a fun, informative setting.
 This experience includes a voucher for one (1) Basic admission ticket to the Field Museum, valid through the end of July 2025, to explore the new Archaeopteryx exhibit. Meet Bill Simpson, Head of Geological Collections and McCarter Collections Manager of Fossil Vertebrates, as he shares his experience with SUE from the very beginning of the project. Bill will discuss examining the fossil prior to auction, the auction itself, preparation of the fossil, facilitating research on SUE, providing input on the mounting, re-mounting in Stanley Field Hall, unveiling live on morning TV shows May 17, 2000, and directing the dismantling, move and re-mounting of SUE in 2018.&nbsp; A mixture of casts of SUE and real bones not on the mount will be shown.

<li>Children under the age of 6 will not be admitted into a Dozin' with the Dinos event. Families and groups with children under the age of 6 may be asked to leave the event without a refund.</li>
<li>Adults may not attend Dozin' with the Dinos without a child between the ages of 6-12. If you attend the event and do not have children in your party, you will be asked to leave the event without a refund.</li>
<li>If you've purchased tickets incorrectly by mistake, you have until 2 weeks prior to the event to request a refund. After the two week period no refunds will be given, and you will not be admitted to the event.</li>

All sales are final. Group Tickets allow groups of 15 or more people to attend for a discounted rate. Perfect for scout troops, school groups, and other organizations.
