Cultural Anthropology at The Field Museum is dedicated to providing context for the ethnological collections (non-archaelogy collections), conducting applied and basic research on the current production of material culture and on the ways in which peoples shape and are shaped by their environments. We use ethnographic and ethno-historical methods and work with scientists in other disciplines. Our research informs displays of contemporary culture, and provides recommendations for action to improve quality of life.
